1st Annual Easter Egg Bike Run- 4th April 2010

For the first time ever, our team at Gasan Approved are organising a Charity Bike Run, to help put a smile on children's faces this Easter. Join us on Sunday the 4th April 2010, for a ride out to Mater Dei Hospital where we will be dropping off Easter Eggs to the Children's Wards.
Registration for the run will start at 9.15am at Gasan Automotive Centre Mriehel, where there will be hot beverages available before we leave. Each rider needs to bring along an Easter Egg which we will donate to the unlucky children who have to spend their Easter in hospital this year.
Riding in a group doesn't require special skills, but we would like to point out a few tips to ensure that you have an enjoyable and safe ride.
- Keep your distance but don't allow big gaps to develop! Sounds contradictory but bunching up reduces your visibility as well as giving you less time to react to anything that might happen, whilst large gaps extends the length of the convoy. Ideally you should stagger so you're not riding in each others wheels tracks - the first rider keeps to the right side of the lane, and the next rider rides on the left two bike lengths back, and so on.
- Keep it smooth. Don't brake or accelerate hard - if you do, the rider behind is likely to do the same, starting a chain reaction which will result in someone behind you eventually having to stop.
- Stay in formation, if someone pulls over, by all means overtake but pulling out and overtaking the group achieves nothing.
- Whilst you are being escorted you remain responsible for your own actions, you remain on public roads and equally remain accountable for your actions, you need to maintain all your normal observational skills and react accordingly.
We look forward to seeing a good turn up, so come along, meet some fellow bikers and help us put a smile on the children's faces this Easter!
